CASTANEDO ALTARPIECE

The church of Castanedo dating from 1500, probably on the remains of a Romanesque building dating from twelfth century.

Inside, the capitals of the main arch show Romanesque sculptural decoration that serve as testimony to the existence of an earlier building, possibly  from the fifteenth century.

In the late seventeenth century, a rectangular chapel was opened on the side of the Choir. Also in the apse, there is an  altarpiece of neoclassic style dating from the eighteenth century, where we can find a sculpture of San Salvador, patron of the town.
